Qualifications:
Education: BA degree in graphic design or related field.
Experience: 5 - 8 years experience in a marketing and/or design agency with a focus on branding/print/promotional design. 2 years of experience supervising or mentoring Creative staff.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Ability to consistently perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment as an individual in a team environment
- Exceptional organizational and time management skill with an ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and simultaneously handle multiple projects with total accuracy and attention to detail
- Solid understanding of pre-press standards, including digital and offset printing
- Expert-level knowledge of Macintosh/PC systems and design software
- Proficiency in QuarkXPress, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe PhotoShop, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office (knowledge of Flash, a plus)
Job Description:
- Work collaboratively with the creative team, including the Creative Director, copywriter and designers to develop concepts that effectively communicate to the target audience
- The Senior Art Director’s role is to work with the Creative Director to brainstorm and come up with theme and design ideas.
- Must understand branding and must also oversee the correct briefing and supervision of the rest of the design team
- Oversee the artistic design of advertisements, web and print materials
- Responsible for the quality of the finished product
- The art director is personally responsible for compelling layouts and managing creative projects through production.
- Effectively supervise Creative staff to consistently achieve high creative standards and enhance productivity levels throughout the department
- Partner with Project Coordinators to accurately predict project requirements, identify potential problems and solutions, and to ensure balanced workload of the Creative staff while meeting all project deadlines and expectations
- Process feedback and project direction from internal teams on a given project to calibrate the right balance between creative quality and scheduling demands
- Keep current on the most up-to-date developments and trends in print production techniques, graphics, vendor offerings and software advances to subsequently implement appropriate changes internally to ensure that we operate in the most effective and competitive manner
- Source, manage and oversee external freelancers, as needed, with a focus on quality
